In Jesus’s ministry, He did not debate with the sinners he met– he ate dinner with many of them. He taught, but he did not argue. Many times, his enemies tried to trap him with their questions and spark debates, but Jesus always answered wisely, avoiding the debate mentality and getting to the heart of the issue.
To reach people with the love of Christ, we must first show them that love.
Developing a friendship first will allow the other person to trust you with questions that open up conversations about your faith. Having a well-done debate may win over someone’s mind; but showing Christ’s love– a never-ending love that surpasses all other love– will win people’s hearts.
